Chocolate Havanese

Seafood delights


  • 1 small tin tuna (oil packed)
  • 1 TTbsp reserved oil or vegetable oil
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (2.5ml)
  • 1 tsp dried parsley (5ml)
  • 1 beaten egg
  • 1 Tbsp water (15ml)
  • 1 tsp baking soda (5ml)
  • 1/2 cup wheat germ (125ml)
  • 1/2 cup flour (125ml)
  • 1/2 cup corn meal(125 ml)

    Drain Tuna , reserving 1 Tbsp ( 15ml) oil. If using water packed Salmon or Tuna, drain and use 1 Tbsp(15ml) vegetable oil instead.

    In blender or food processor, blend tuna with water, oil, egg , garlic powder and parsley.

    In a small bowl, mix together baking soda, wheat germ, corn meal and flour. Add the wet ingredients and mix
    into a soft dough . If its too sticky, Add extra dry ingredients. Drop by small spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet.
    Flatten with a glass dipped in corn meal or a floured fork. Bake at 325 for 30 minutes till browned and crisp.
    Cool on rack. Makes about 3 dozen Havanese sized treats. Store in a well sealed container.

    Salmon Variation

    Use a tin of salmon instead of tuna
