BEFORE AND AFTER - MORE COLOUR CHANGES

We know you can't get enough, so here are more colour changes for you to enjoy including several intriguing chocolate dogs.

COLOUR CHANGE - SABLE (with mask)

Pretty little Izzy is another lovely sable (with a black mask). Izzy's base colour is a muted gold with some definite reddish highlights in her ears, along the flank and on her back. As you can see after a hair cut, much of the tipping has been cut off although you can still see her dark mark and dark tipping on her ears and tail. Her body coat lightened considerably but she kept plenty of golden and red areas especially through her legs, tail and head.

COLOUR CHANGE - BLACK PARTI WITH TAN MARKINGS

Vinnie Van Go shows off his unique colour palette. His body markings are typically black Particolour with a mostly white body with large
patches of black. To this base, Vinnie adds a splash of colour with bright gold markings on his eyebrows and cheeks. The gold is on his
face only, there are no colour points on his legs. At 10 months old, Vinnie is proving to be a true rainbow... his black is changing to a
soft charcoal grey and the gold colour markings have softened quite a bit with only a small touch of bright gold left in his ears.

COLOUR CHANGE - BLACK & TAN BRINDLE WITH WHITE MARKINGS

It took a while to figure out Josie's coloration as her coat developed. She has a classic Black and Tan pattern with minute amounts of white on her
chin and feet. Her tan markings are strongly brindled. The tan quickly softened to creamy white through the brindled areas. Josie's body coat
seems to be lightening as well, perhaps to charcoal or silver. It will be interesting to see what she looks like once her coat colour fully matures.

COLOUR CHANGE - RED CHOCOLATE BRINDLE WITH WHITE MARKINGS

Lego is a stunning example of a chocolate brindle. He has a deep red base coat swirled with chocolate brown stripes and highlighted with white
markings on chin, chest and feet. As expected of a chocolate Brindle, the brindle stripes are brown to go with the liver pigment. In a long coat,
Lego looks solid russet, but clipped you can see the extensive striping. As he matured, the red colour softened but remained distinctly red.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE SILVER (with mask)

Louie is one of those Havanese whose adult coloration is dramatically different from his puppy appearance. At 8 weeks old, Louie was a dark
brown puppy. Just one month later, his colour had lightened to a medium reddish brown which continued to soften further to chocolate silver
by one year of age, leaving darker brown shadings on the face and feet. Not done yet, Louie's colour lightened further then darkened again to his
current medium brown. The retention of darker chocolate on the head and feet is likley due to the mask gene. A mask is not obvious on a dark coat
(ie:chocolate mask on chocolate puppy) but becomes more noticeable in dogs like Louie where the colour of the body coat changes significantly.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE SABLE WITH WHITE MARKINGS

Lovely little Natalie was born a very dark chocolate sable with white markings on her chest and feet. Her coat colour started lightening
quickly, perhaps not too much of a surprise as her sire is chocolate silver Louie (above). See how much her colour has changed in
just three short months. There may be much more change to come. It will be intersting to see how the colour develops.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE & TAN

As a young puppy Othello was deep brown with extensive tan points is a soft shade of gold on eyebrows, ears, cheeks, chest, and legs.
As he matured, his chocolate softened to a rich reddish chocolate and his tan points lightened to creamy white. A gorgeous boy.

COLOUR CHANGE - RED BRINDLE

Beautiful Lea from VonDerWolfspfote kennels in Germany started out as a deep red puppy distinctly covered in extensive black brindle
stripes. As her coat grows out,the brindling gives Lea a strikingly unusual streaky red/black appearance, a colour that is hard to describe.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHAMPAGNE WITH LIVER PIGMENT

As a young puppy, Olivia looks like a typical dark champagne puppy with one notable difference; her pigment is liver rather than black.
Note that in some countries Champagne is called Cream. For lack of an official designation for this colour combination, her breeder
refers to her as Chocolate Cream. As she matured, Olivia's coat lightened to creamy almond with subtle golden highlights throughout.

COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE SABLE

Another unusual colour combination to intrigue you. As a very young puppy, Pegasus was a rich red with lots of deep brown sabling. Within a few short weeks, the red undercoat gained prominence and as his coat grows in length, Pegasus displays a subtle colour-layered appearance of chocolate on red.
