Conformation dog shows
This takes you to the fascinating world of exhibiting pure-bred dogs. Havanese are born show offs and love the opportunity to make an impression, especially in front of an appreciative crowd. Showing can be a potentially expensive pastime especially if you use the services of a professional handler and/or show internationally. You can get a great deal of satisfaction and pleasure from handling your own dog in the show ring. A great little dog; combined with patience, training, experience and practice are the elements that lead to success. Come meet our stars.
Our dogs
CH Pocopayasos Hi Jinx at Mimosa. Jinx finished her Canadian championship as a Junior Puppy in August of 2007. In her show career, she earned several Best Of Breed, multiple group placements, 1 Best Puppy in Show and 1 Best Overall in Juniors (handled by 14 year old Jocelyn)
Jomarans Little Miss Muffet. Always our special girl, Mitzi generally highlighted her skills in the performance arena, though she did occasionaly play in the show ring at breed and group specialties, showing in the Altered and Veterans classes. She earned several Best Altered in Specialty Wins. Here she is being shown by Jade.
Jomaran's Ragamuffin. Rags started out as our practice dog. We found he loved the show ring and also adored children, so he quickly became a favourite for Juniors earning one Best Altered in Specialty shown by 8 year old Nicholas. The giant stuffed bunny they won was bigger than Rags!
CH Havana's Mimosa Midnite Medley. Cricket finished her
championship just after her 1st birthday.
Some of her special moments include a Best Puppy In Sweeps,
a Best Overall in Junior Handling and multiple group finishes. Much later as a senior, she
won 3 Best Veteran in Specialty awards.
Mimosa champions
CH. Mimosa Rosevalley TakenByStorm. Jinx's son Storm finished his championship in style at 9 months of age earning his last points with a Winners Dog award at the 2011 Regional Specialty in BC. Storm is lovingly owned, trained, and handled by Jane Rosenthal. As of 2020, a number of Storm's grandchildren are having their turns in the ring.
CH. Mimosa's Champagne At Midnite. Cricket's son Dusty did us proud by finishing his championship at just 8 months of age as a Junior Puppy with all majors in just 10 days in the ring including: 3 Best Opposite, 2 Best Of Breed, one Group 3rd and one Puppy Group. Dusty is the beloved family companion of the Graham family.
Brace
For something a little different, we trained Cricket and Rags for showing as a brace; two dogs on one leash showing as a pair. They were very well matched with only 1/2 inch difference in size and very similar markings. They did very well, winning Best Brace in several breed and group specialty shows over the years.
