Trick Training
Far beyond the classic Shake-A-Paw, trick training encompasses hundreds of different tricks with as many variations as you can come up with. Tricks are fun to show off to guests and entertain the kids. They are also perfect for dogs involved with school visits or pet therapy. Stunt dogs with a wide repertoire of tricks show off their skills in exhibitions, commercials and movies. All that aside, trick training is a marvellous bonding opportunity. Havanese learn easily and enjoy learning tricks; they thrive on playing with their humans and love to show off. Go on, have some fun. You can get started with any age dog, from the youngest puppy to the oldest senior.
Zorro
Zorro arrived during covid. With so many limitations for outings and socializing, I started trick training as a way to keep him stimulated and learning. He is eager to learn and loves to train, picking up new behaviours very quickly. A friend steered us to Do More With Your Dog and we were quickly hooked; so many tricks we could learn and fun challenges we could try. If we want to go further, there is also canine fitness and stunt dog training to explore. DMWYD trick titles are recognized by the Canadian Kennel Club.Zorro earned his Novice Trick Title when he was 12 weeks old. Since then he has worked his way through Intermediate, Advanced, Expert and Masters trick levels, finished his Trick Champion, Grand Champion and Masters Champion Titles and most recently earned a place on the Trick Dog Register of Merit.
