COLOUR CHANGE - SABLE
Java from Dar-A-Luz kennel was born dark sable. As she matured, her undercoat developed to cream with red
highlights and the tipping reduced to a slight dark overlay on her body and dark tipped ears. P>
COLOUR CHANGE - CHOCOLATE SILVER
Owned by Ingela Lindgren of Darkwilles of Sweden, Busan was a typical chocolate puppy. Influence
of the silvering gene gradually changed Busan's coat to the light silvery brown colour seen here.
COLOUR CHANGE - SABLE IRISH PIED
Sasha from Havana Canada had intriguing colours as a puppy, with a dark sable body, white Irish Pied markings and
tan splashes on her head. As an adult Sasha still holds quite a bit of colour although it has softened significantly. This
colour combination is sometimes descriptively nicknamed TriSable, though that is not an official colour name or registry choice.
COLOUR CHANGE - RED AND APRICOT
A sweet pair of littermates from kennel Blue Temptation in Germany. Shaggy is rich red and Jeany is apricot.
Colour changed very little in this duo. At 15 months they are much the same colour that they were as puppies.
COLOUR CHANGE - SILVER SABLE
Born very dark sable, at first it was difficult to tell what colour Ace from Havana kennels would be. Change
started very early with the undercoat turning creamy white and the top coat and tipping becoming silvery grey.
COLOUR CHANGE - CHARCOAL/DARK SILVER
Cirkeline from Denmark's Kennel Silky Dog looks like a typical black/white puppy. At 17 months, as she matures,
her coat is developing deep brown shadings. This may be the beginning of turning dark silver or charcoal. This
change can start as early as 6 months of age or later as a young adult. The colour may take 1 to 3 years to develop.
COLOUR CHANGE - SABLE (silver tipped)
From Pocopayasos kennel. Multiple modifying genes are at play. The silvering gene is at work lightening
his black tipping to silver leaving only black remnants on his ears. At the same time, the influence of the
chinchilla gene fades Frisco's gold undercoat to pale cream giving prominence to the dramatic silver tipping.
COLOUR CHANGE - GOLD IRISH PIED
Meet the Lockhart family's reason to smile. Mitchell, of Cuban descent, was very golden as a puppy with Irish
Pied markings. The colour lightened slightly as he matured but the coloured portions of his coat remain quite gold.
COLOUR CHANGE - TRICOLOUR (Black/silver/white)
Jinx coat is black with silver points and white markings. As an adult, there has been no colour change.
You can still easily see her silver eyebrows and silver leggings with a white chin, chest and paws.
COLOUR CHANGE - HAVANA
Yola, owned by Fabienne Ernst of Belgium, was born so dark as to appear almost black. By 4 months of age, her
colour had changed to an intriguing mix of black, brown and auburn hair. As an adult, Yola is deep reddish brown.
